The Host/Hostess at Coast Kitchen Restaurant at the Timber Cove Resort is responsible for greeting arriving guests, welcoming them into the establishment and seating them. The host is a personal representation of the service and overall hospitality of the staff at the restaurant and lounge. While guests are waiting to be seated or waiting for take-out orders to be ready, it is the job of the Host/Hostess to ensure that guests are made comfortable and kept informed of the status of their wait times.
Manager
This position reports directly to the Restaurant Manager. In addition, the General Manager and Manager on Duty also acts as manager for the Host when Restaurant Manager is not available or on-site.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities
The general shift responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Monitor the open dining sections of the restaurant for empty and cleaned tables.
- Estimate wait times for guests.
- Monitor the guest waiting list.
- Review and maintain the reservations lists in conjunction with the front desk staff.
- Ensure that the needs of guests are met while they are waiting.
- Move tables together to accommodate large parties.
- Ensure that applicable menus are stocked and available if requested by waiting or inquiring guests.
- Maintain an even flow and balance of guests in conjunction with server sections.
- Inform F&B staff of reservation count, special requests, dietary restrictions, and or large parties during Line Up.
- Answer the Dining Room telephone in an appropriate fashion, and assist guest according to their needs.
- Communicate with bussers in regards to upcoming table needs.
Requirements/Skills
- Strong verbal and written English skills, with Spanish a plus.
- Dress appropriately for the job with the required attire and/or uniform and maintain proper personal hygiene. Refer to Employee Handbook for more information.
- Work independently with general supervision; learn and interpret laws, rules, regulations, and policies and apply them to specific cases with good judgment.
- Perform analytical studies and draw sound conclusions; communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, a diverse population.
- Have knowledge and skills of generally accepted bartending principles, Hotel policies and procedures.
- Be able to lift approximately 30 lbs of supplies, utensils/glassware, etc when needed.
- Be able to have intermittent exposure to extreme heat (dishroom & kitchen) and cold (coolers & freezers).
- Must be able to stand on feet for long hours as the position requires frequent standing.
- Able to work Holidays, 6th days, and overtime. All overtime to be approved prior to being incurred by Head of Department with written notice.
