The General Manager position is responsible to lead the sales and marketing, revenue management and public relations efforts for the hotel. The Rooms Manager is responsible to report directly to the General Manager with updates regarding the day to day operations of the hotel including but not limited to front desk, housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, parking lot, landscaping, guest relations, and personnel supervision.
TASKS PERFORMED DAILY (REGULARLY): Review/verify daily reports, sales reports, hotel and restaurant public relations, facility inspection, sales calls, maintenance of accepted standards of operations, monitor financial performance to budget.
TASKS PERFORMED PERIODICALLY: Negotiate groups along with room sales, attend community events (Chamber of Commerce, Visitor's Bureau, etc.).
VISITS: General Manager will be traveling, as needed, in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Orange County areas for sales calls and sales generating appointments.

Responsibilities
The essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:
- Sales & Marketing, PR and Events
- Oversee the sales and marketing, public relations and events sales performance of Timber Cove.
- Function as primary strategic leader of the hotel with responsibility for all sales & marketing aspects of the operation, including financial performance and sales and revenue generation.
- Drive the sales culture in the hotel through active involvement in the sales process, including encouraging the leadership team to develop effective revenue management strategies and setting aggressive goals that will drive the property’s financial performance.
- Achieve targets for revenue, profit and sales growth.
- Monitor actual sales and revenues to determine variance and assess goal accomplishments.
- Review and assist in updating weekly sales report by Director of Sales & Marketing and Events team to ensure latest updates are provided to ownership.
- Communicate with all PR, sales and marketing requests and coordinate responses with ownership’s PR team.
- General Hotel & Restaurant Operations
- Maintain constant communication with the Assistant General Manager to get updates on the hotel and restaurant operations.
- Make key decisions and oversee execution, remove obstacles to success and ensure appropriate resources are available to achieve business results.
- Analyze business results and work with the leadership team to develop effective strategies to address needs.
- Assist Assistant General Manager in preparing monthly and annual progress reports, as well as short and long term plans.
- Review reservations made daily to ensure that all guest information is provided, reservation information is accurate and special requests are recognized and acknowledged.
- Oversee employee development and training with emphasis on customer care and standards of performance, and conduct regular staff and employee meetings.
- Maintain and exceed standards in quality expected of owner and other external bodies.
- Ensure policy development and documentation.
- Provide direction for all departments.
- Conduct routine property inspections to ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations.
- Meet and greet customers, deal with complaints and comments and address problems and trouble shooting.
- Be aware of the importance of safety and security at all times.
- Endeavor to be conscious of safety and security at all times.
